Indian nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine of the newest class. Since the reactor plant and payload capacity of the preceding Arihant class were deemed limited, a new type of submarine was developed to meet the Navy’s expanded requirements, featuring roughly twice the displacement and the ability to carry a significantly more diverse armaments on board.
