Clan System

Clans in Modern Warships are player communities created for shared progression, team battles, and earning rewards. Their main practical function is to provide a quick and convenient way to find teammates for standard and ranked battles.

Playing in a coordinated squad fundamentally changes the gameplay, providing a number of advantages:

  • Increased effectiveness: Coordinated teamwork significantly increases the chances of victory, making the gameplay more engaging and predictable.
  • Team synergy: Regular matches with the same lineup build an intuitive understanding of each other’s actions. Players become more familiar with their teammates’ strengths and weaknesses, turning the squad into a single tactical unit.

Unlike games with strict economic or rating requirements, the clan system in Modern Warships is focused specifically on social aspects. These include:

  • Community and Communication: A clan is a place where players can find like-minded teammates. In clan chat, members share the latest news, discuss updates and meta builds, exchange experience, and simply hang out in a friendly atmosphere.
  • Identity and Belonging: A clan’s name, tag, and emblem serve as visible markers of membership. They showcase a player’s affiliation with the community, strengthen team spirit, and help players stand out from those playing solo.
  • Training and Mentorship: Experienced players help newcomers learn the ins and outs of the game, explaining weapon and module mechanics as well as effective tactics for different maps and game modes.
  • Team Training: Clans organize informal battles where players can practice new team strategies or experiment with different ship builds.

Creating a Clan

To create a clan, you must have 10,000 gold in your account and have reached account level 10 or higher. The player who creates the clan automatically becomes the clan leader.

Hierarchy

A clan has a role system with different levels of access:

  • Member — the core clan roster. Has the right to chat, participate in clan activities, and receive personal rewards.
  • Sergeant — has all Member privileges and can approve or reject membership requests, but cannot remove players. Usually responsible for recruitment, training new clan members, and maintaining order among Members both within the clan and in external interactions.
  • Deputy Leader — has all Sergeant privileges as well as virtually all Clan Leader privileges, except disbanding the clan and changing the Clan Leader’s rank. Usually manages interaction between clan Members and the leadership.
  • Clan Leader — has all privileges, including role management, disbanding the clan, and accepting or removing players. Responsible for the clan’s strategic activities.

Important: At the moment, changing the Clan Leader is only possible through Technical Support.

Clan Activity Types

Clans can focus on different types of activity, defining their gameplay philosophy and goals. Informally, clans can be divided into 3 groups:

Rating Clans

  • Focus: Maximizing clan point gains by all members in online battles to achieve high positions in the monthly leaderboard.
  • Organization: Often require members to make a minimum monthly and weekly (sometimes daily) personal contribution in the form of clan points. The main activity is individual or squad play focused on destroying opponents to efficiently earn clan points.
  • Goal: Securing positions in the clan leaderboard and earning the maximum number of seasonal rewards.

Tournament Clans

  • Focus: Participating in organized team battles — tournaments. Emphasis is placed on team tactics, strategy, and coordination.
  • Organization: Have a strict roster, training schedule, and tactical briefings. Require a high level of individual skill and the ability to play as a team.
  • Goal: Winning tournaments, earning the Hero and Legend titles for clan members, and obtaining exclusive rewards (unique ships and badges).

Mixed Clans (Social-Oriented / Universal)

  • Focus: A balance between rating activity, participation in Clan Wars, and comfortable social interaction.
  • Organization: Less strict activity requirements. Encourage participation in different activities according to the player’s preference. Ideal for those looking for people to play with without strict commitments.
  • Goal: Consistent rewards, skill development across different modes, and maintaining a friendly atmosphere.

Main Clan Activities

Clan Rating

The main progression and competition system between clans. All clan members can contribute to accumulating points for their clan’s overall rating.

  • Point Scoring Mechanics: Clan points are awarded for destroying enemy ships in standard online battles (except for the “Custom Game” mode). Each destruction by a clan member contributes a certain number of points to the clan’s total.
  • Seasonal System: The rating is seasonal and lasts for one calendar month. All clans compete for positions on a single leaderboard, which is ranked by the total number of clan points earned during the season.

At the end of each season, the highest-ranked clans are rewarded according to their positions:

  • Top 5 Clans: receive Artcoins, a unique clan banner, and exclusive titles.
  • 6th–50th place: receive an honorary title and a supply of gold.

In addition, all clans that earn the required number of points receive guaranteed basic rewards.

Clan Wars

Update 0.100.2 introduced Clan Wars — a new team battle format that completely replaces the old “Squad Battles” mode. This is the major update for clan gameplay, designed to make cooperative battles more structured, rewarding, and engaging.

Participation and Management Rules

  • To participate, you must be a member of a clan. There are no account-level restrictions for Tier III. Tier II is available to players up to and including level 20.
  • A squad can be created by any clan member (by default) or only by Sergeants and above (set by the Clan Leader). The creator becomes the Captain.
  • Matchmaking takes the overall team power into account. Squads from the same clan will not face each other.
  • Class restrictions: squads have limits (for example, no more than 1 aircraft carrier and no more than 2 battleships).
  • Bots: A battle can start with an incomplete roster. Empty slots will be filled by bots, but the opposing side may consist entirely of live players.

Key Features and Mechanics

  • Maintenance: After each battle, the ship used is sent for repairs. The duration depends on the result: until the end of the current period (if the ship survived) or 24 hours (if the ship was sunk).
  • Clan Points: The main resource of the mode. Points are awarded for each battle. The amount depends on: victory (which grants the maximum number of points), the player’s personal contribution, the team power ratio, and bonus battles (the first 3 battles during Prime Time award points with an increased multiplier).

Seasonality and Schedule

  • Format: The mode operates within monthly seasons.
  • Prime Times: Battles are available throughout the month only during Prime Times — two-hour activity periods that take place from Friday through Sunday.
  • Battle Conditions: Battles involve squads of up to 5 players, consisting only of members of the same clan. Battles take place with Tier II or Tier III ships depending on account level.
  • Single Map: One random map is selected in advance for each Prime Time and is shared by all participants.

Reward System

The clan’s overall progress is filled by clan points. When checkpoints are reached, all active participants receive Clan Marks and unique Titles (except for the first container).

Personal Rewards: Issued weekly and include consumables, currencies, and premium-account days.

Clan Reward Containers

Clan Marks can be used to open three types of special containers with exclusive contents.

  • Clan Container: contains epic ships, equipment, and useful consumables.
  • Elite Clan Container: contains particularly valuable ships, equipment, and currencies, including Artcoins.
  • Clan Customization Container: contains valuable cosmetic items, including the unique “Messenger of the Lord” camouflage.

Why Join a Clan?

The clan system in Modern Warships turns the game from a series of random battles into a deeper strategic experience where team interaction takes center stage. Whether it is competing for a high clan rating, participating in tournaments, or choosing a mixed format, every player can find a like-minded community that suits their goals and playstyle.
