Game Chat Rules
Game chat is the place to discuss battles, share tactics and tips, find good deals on the Market, recruit players for your clan, or just hang out.
To keep chat enjoyable for everyone, the rules below apply to all Modern Warships chats. Breaking them may result in a ban. The type and length of the ban depend on how serious the violation is.
Rules
1. Other Games
Advertising or discussing other games and projects in a similar genre is not allowed.
2. Politics
All political topics are prohibited. This includes slogans, calls to action, discussion of political events and any political commentary. The game is politically neutral, and this rule helps keep chat calm and friendly.
3. Insults and Provocation
Messages that humiliate, insult or provoke other players are not allowed. Avoid rudeness, personal attacks and conflicts, and treat others with respect.
4. Racism and Discrimination
Any form of racism, xenophobia or discrimination based on race, nationality or ethnicity is not tolerated.
5. 18+ Content
Discussing violence, cruelty, sexual topics or any other content unsuitable for a general audience is not allowed.
6. Profanity
Do not use swear words or crude language, including disguised or censored versions.
7. Trolling
Deliberately provoking or mocking other players, or twisting facts to get a negative reaction, is not allowed.
8. Excessive Caps
Messages written ENTIRELY IN CAPS are annoying and make chat harder to read. Use caps in moderation.
9. Nicknames
Nicknames that contain insults or provocations, or that break any other rule, are not allowed. A nickname counts as a message in its own right, so the same rules apply to it.
10. Spam
Do not send lots of identical or meaningless messages in a row.
11. Impersonating
Staff
Nicknames that could make others believe you are a moderator, developer or administrator are not allowed.
12. Chat Language
Write in the language of the chat you’re in so everyone can understand each other. The exception is Global chat, where any language is allowed.
13. Account Trading
Any offers to buy, sell or transfer accounts are prohibited. This violates security rules and may result in losing the account.
14. Personal Information
Sharing other players’ personal information, such as phone numbers, email addresses or passwords, is strictly prohibited. This violation carries a severe penalty.
15. Destructive Comments About the Game
Insulting the game or its developers, calling for a boycott or for the game to be removed, and stirring up mass negativity are not allowed. If you have feedback or suggestions, share them with the moderators or in the game’s official communities. We read your feedback and pass it on to the development team.
Penalties
- Chat ban. You can’t send messages for anywhere from 1 hour to 30 days or more. Private messages remain available. Issued by moderators or developers.
- Nickname reset. If your nickname breaks the rules, it will be replaced with a default one such as Renamed_12345 (the numbers may vary). If your nickname has changed like this, a moderator or developer reset it. You can choose a new nickname in the Profile tab for 200 Gold. Make sure the new one follows the rules.
- Temporary account ban. From 24 hours to 1 month, depending on the violation. Issued by developers.
- Permanent account ban. Given for repeated violations or for creating new accounts to get around a penalty. Issued by developers.
How to Appeal
To get details about a ban or to appeal it, contact Technical Support:
- Select Modern Warships as the project.
- Choose the Account Ban category.
- Describe the situation in detail and attach screenshots or other evidence if you have any.
If the review shows the penalty was issued by mistake, it will be revised or lifted.
Important: moderators do not explain the reasons for bans in chat. Repeatedly asking “Why was I banned?” may be treated as spam or provocation and lead to another penalty. Moderators can only direct you to Support.
Who Keeps Order
- Moderators are players who have earned a good reputation in the community. They restrict chat access for rule-breakers (a “mute”), help with in-game questions, collect feedback, and report rule-breakers and bugs to the developers.
- Developers are Artstorm employees who work on the game.
You can recognize moderators and developers by the flickering sheriff star next to their nickname. If a player claims to be a moderator or developer but has no star, they are most likely lying. Don’t trust them.
