Unmanned Vessel Guide

Naval drones are a unique class of units available exclusively on amphibious assault ships. This article covers tactics for their use.

All naval drones in the game are divided into three types:

1. Unmanned Underwater Vessel
2. Unmanned Surface Vessel
3. Detonating Unmanned Vessel

There are two main tactics for using underwater and surface drones.

The first—and primary—tactic is to simply deploy the drones without switching to direct control. This is the most effective method, since manually controlling drones makes it impossible to control the ship at the same time, which reduces overall effectiveness. However, if the drones are equipped with anti-aircraft missiles, it can be worthwhile to switch to them to destroy enemy aircraft. Some models are also fitted with grenade launchers, which are useful for intercepting enemy torpedoes.

The second tactic focuses primarily on controlling the drones directly. It is suitable when the assault ship has weak main armament, when protecting an allied aircraft carrier, or during positional engagements. You can also briefly switch to drone control to recall them back to the ship or to take advantage of opportunities to attack enemy submarines (many naval drones are equipped with torpedoes and grenade launchers).

A special mention should be made of the most unusual type—Unmanned Explosive Vessel. They require more careful and precise control, but upon colliding with an enemy ship they deal massive damage. The optimal tactic is to guide the drone toward the enemy ship from behind islands, reducing the risk of it being destroyed before it reaches its target.
